The Situation:
Your most dependable rifle simply stopped grouping well, even with your proven load. You have…
1.Cleaned the bore toughly--no plastic--no fouling.
2.You have checked your stock screws--they are tight.
3.Sights-scope mounts & rings are tight.
4. We will assume the barrel is good.
BEFORE YOU REPLACE THE SCOPE--HERE ARE THREE FINAL PLACES TO LOOK FOR THE PROBLEM:
1.Is the stock fore end putting undue pressure on the barrel?--has it warped? Has some foreign material found it's way into the barrel channel?
2 Is the recoil lug making even contact with the stock?
3.Have you damaged the crown-----a very small ding will do the trick!
If all these are good--try a proven scope that you know gives good accuracy.
Good Hunting
God Bless
